California Busa questions

hionbusa

Registered
Hi live in Ca. I found a great busa in Arizona.
Now , I heard that some busa were made for Ca emission laws and others weren't.

Now, last time I checked, motorcyles didnt have to pass a smog check to be registered in CA .
So, let say I buy a bike from out of state. Will I be able to register it in CA?

you should have no problem registering your bike in Cali... so long as it's over 7000 or 7500 miles on it I think...

ya-- i heard 7500
think the only major difference to the consumer tho is the cali version holds a half gallon less gas in the tank

If it has less than 7500 miles on it then you need to get the emissions sticker that makes it comply to CA standards. You can buy the sticker from a dealer(if you know them well), I did. I bought the sticker and that's all it took. Otherwise, borrow a buddys speedo for a day, provided it has more than 7500 on the clock.

Before any of you say "no you cant'" yes you can and that's all it takes. It's not that hard to get the sticker.

Another tip: Don't try to register an out-of-state bike at the DMV and not have the 7500 miles. Once they flag it in the computer, you are screwed and will never be able to register your bike in CA.
