California emissions questions

Hi folks,

The "other" (read lesser) bikes I have owned I have never been able to put anything on them with the exception of full exhaust systems. This was due to California emissions laws. The motorcycles I have owned previously made a different model (stricter emissions) just for California.

Is this true with the Busa as well or can I get pretty much anything I want for an '06 Busa and it will fit?

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by "against the CARB?" The exhaust on my Vstar had a catalytic convertor whereas other states exhausts did not. For performance I understand full system is the way to go (less restriction) but was wondering if I just wanted a change in tone if a slip-on is a viable alternative.

Forgive my newbness:)

I have Akropovic slip-ons and they sound so much better than the stock pipes. Deep, rumbling, bass.

Any slip on (bolt on) muffler is illegal because there is a noise restriction that stock bikes
must meet. CA does not have a emissions test for bikes, if you modify your exhaust you can
get a ticket.

Usually unless you did something to get LEO's attention he won't site you.

If you do decide to change your exhaust, don't bother with bolt ons...they only increase the
sound...there is almost ZERO power (HP) increase. Go with a FULL system

PERFECT!

That is exactly what I needed. Thanks for the input everyone. You learn something new every day (especially around here.)
