Cam Chain tensioner\'s pink dots!!

Just to clarify some things with the Tensioner. The 99s came with a tensioner with one pink dot. This Tensioner had a spring that had 45 lbs of force when fully compressed. After Suzuki realized the tensioner failures, later 99s came with 2 pink dots on the tensioners. This Tensioner had a force of 16 lbs. This is probably why some 1300 picked up horsepower after the recall(mine did,The spring pressure went from 45 lbs to 26 lbs). Now the 2000 models come with Tensioners with 3 pink dots. They have a force of 26 lbs and was used on some early 99 models. From speaking with the head mechanic at the Suzuki dealer near my house he told me that the springs in the tensioners are breaking. No Tensioner that he has seen has backed out.

Why don't some one get the one dot tensioner, the two dot and the three dot and measure the spring tenioner pressure!!!!!!! Let's get the facts straight, maybe Suzuki Company can comment or they can be silent and read on and maybe hirer more Lawyers if this problem becomes life and death issue when someone crashes from a cam tensioner failure.

I had a '99 GSXR750 and it too had a cam chain tensioner recall. I thought for sure Suzuki would have resolved that problem by now but obviously they haven't. I am beginning to get worried.

One was collasped spring still good but like a kick back and stuck the rod in.

I have just ordered one for mine I was adjusting my valves last night and I could push my rod in checked the spring it was fine called Suzuki today they want mine back NOW.
So I ordered on and I will send them mine so I am down for a week.

I'm not playing russian roulette with my engine, ordered manual from schnitzripoff.com today. Let me know what damage you do to your engines, thanks.
No bad karma intended...knock on head...wood...difference? :)

BOOKER WHERE ARE YOU???

I sense that JC is having to say and do what the company policy says being an employee.

JC if I'm wrong please tell me and I will appologise

Nuts

Look at it from my point of veiw..
If you have a warranty and it fails you are covered.

If you have a warranty and it is not a Suzuki parts you pay.

I have three years more on my Suzuki warranty.

They will pay for three years if it fails.

My big motor will not have a Suzuki Tensioner.

Every one understand.

P.S. if you change it DO NOT ,,DO NOT,,

Throw it away save it with gasket you may need it later.......Understand.

man I feel like a suit. :)

Johnny you sound like one too. :)

All this talk is scaring me back to Yamaha. I rode the FZR 1000 for 7 years and no problems what so ever. I ride fast and hard and no warranty will pay my hospital bill if the tensioner causes my engine to blow.

I am with you Falcon, I don't give a crap about the motor, I am worried about locking it up at high speed and flying across the sky, not to mention that suzuki would not cover the other damage caused to the bike when it hits the ground(ie. plastics, forks, tank, etc.). I will take my chances with an aftermarket tensioner and keep my stocker just in case other damage occurs at which point I will just reinstall all of my stock parts:pipe, airbox, tensioner, Pair valve.
Besides, If Jcheese is not the one going to rebuild my motor after it blows, I don't want some little 18 year old punk who probably knows less then me trying to build my motor. It would never run the same again. Once you tear in' em they're never quite the same. Why play Russian rulet?

Anyone know the most simple way to adjust a manual tensioner??
