CAMERA MOUNTS

Im looking to mount either a go pro max or a insta 360 camera. I posted in the general forum with little response. I want to do the long pole mount out the back just looking for mounting ideas. I am doing another 4 hour ride beginning of Aug and need to have this done well before then.

I've successfully used a suction cup RAM mount on the side of the rear. It's flat enough to be secure and should be able to support the pole. Also a nice flat spot between gas lid and the gauges, but doesn't serve a purpose for 360 mount.

You don't really have the time to tinker with options before your ride, but kicking this out there due to the ridiculously cheap price of the Penguin360 and I decided to give it a shot. Really surprised at the video quality. Pretty easy to use the camera as well, does all the mending of the 360 video on the camera itself.

The downside is the camera does not have video stabilization, but I've read editing programs have a way to do it when editing. Another downside with, I think 360 videos in general, they're definitely a learning curve to import and edit videos. This part I haven't quite figured out yet.

What ever you decide to use and do, I'm looking forward to hearing some feedback and seeing some video! Picture is with the camera directly on top of the E-Revo, I think if it would have been higher, it may have done a better job meshing the 2 on the body itself.

Insta360, depending on the camera you get, have 2 different motorcycle bundles you can get.

These bundles have all kinds of camera mounts.

I ordered the Insta360 One RS 1 inch; this camera being heavier than Insta360 One X2 and Insta360 One RS works with just one of the two motorcycle bundles.

I can help you with mounts ideas for my camera but only after 28th July, when I receive it.

I would use one of these on the grab bar or passenger peg.

Tim’s bike build thread have tons of ideas. Calling @pashnit

I've struggled with camera mounting positions also, but I'm using an old gopro hero 4. I ended up just 3d printing a mount to stick on my helmet and have it mounted on the chin area and I've found it works really well and produces great videos.

That probably doesn't help you with a stick style cam, but unfortunately that's all I got!

I’d recommend a stem mount setup but if you want those extended views, I’d make a custom bar that hooks on the rear seat grab bar mounting holes. Take off the bar and fabricate something that sticks out to the rear for the POV you want. Shouldn’t be hard to do at all.

Finally got the insta 360 x3 this week. Has anyone come up with any more mounting ideas? I have a few that I am waiting on parts to come and will share when I vet them .

Rear grab bar is removed for the cowl. I have been flirting with making some sort of mount back there out of aluminum....

I got one last week as well! First thing I learned, and this was my fault, is I believe I need a graphics card for editing.....after I actually looked at required specs, lol. Onboard definitely doesn't seem to cut it with 360, least trying to import it a few times the other day. I haven't tried single lens on it yet, I expect it should be okay assuming in a typical video format.

I'm with you, need some more mounting ideas for it. It's alot heavier than I was expecting, and it seems the camera should be vertical for recording so it is kinda awkward to mount for some cool 360 videos.

I bought the motorcycle accesory mounting kit and this came in it. Just looking for outside the box thats more tested and works on GEN 3
ou can use one of the rounded mounts from GoPro to stick to the top of the windscreen. my GoPro hero sessions has been 180+ multiple times like that. I’ve always thought someone should make a mirror block off go pro mount

Guess we are on another joint adventure......... Also I broke down and replaced my 14 year old laptop this week .....

I own both of these cameras, and my solution was to mount RAM balls everywhere. Not the most common solution, but it works for me. Anywhere there's an available bolt. I'm more into photos than shooting video though.

The key to riding and using both these cameras is to run them off the phone, so you can turn them on or off while riding to record the wiggly bits. I also use Icon Pursuit gloves that work with the phone screen.

GoPro Max vs Insta360, I didn't like the GoPro Max, it was bigger and heavier and I hate the menus. The latest Insta360 has a screen built into it which is cool but if you're running it with the phone, that's not such a big deal.
