All of you have a blessed weekend.
Woodpecker on the tree.
View attachment 1638329
there was more than this one seen . A Pair at times ( guessing mating pair )This is a great bird, a red-headed woodpecker. While most woodpeckers have some notable red on the head this one sticks out with a spectacular fully-red head. Note the sharp white lines on the wings. For this black and white contrast it is nicknamed "the flying checkerboard." They are reducing in numbers. One is definitely lucky to see these birds and it will usually be found in highly wooded areas.

Now, if I posted a picture of my pecker in a tree, I'd get banned....there was more than this one seen . A Pair at times ( guessing mating pair )

Seriously, you know you're getting old when you find birds (and chipmunks) interesting....
That ain't an easy thing to do but I will see what I can get done..not long ago I was sitting in the gazebo when two of them were chasing each other (a dominance thing) when one ran up my leg and sat on my shoulder while the other one sat at my feet watching...Bill I find my time valuable as we all do these days . Better spent with wildlife than a fair number of people We need some pictures from your training of these chipmunks please .
You can tell with binos...check to see which one "rolls it's eyes" when the other one shows off...I do believe the male and female of this species look identical (monomorphic), unfortunately. Thus if you would kindly do us all a favor and peak underneath each of the birds for validation, we would appreciate your efforts.
For a small percentage of us so-called "nuts", neither age nor how excessively busy life can be was ever a determining or detrimental factor with regards to such interests.
