Can I paint my midpipes??

I was wondering if it would be OK to paint my midpipes with some kind of high temp. flat black paint?  I think it would look pretty good with the carbon fiber bolt-ons I have ordered.
Any suggestions are welcome.

The chopper guys I know bead blast theirs then send them for a hi temp powder coat.  It costs about $150 for a pair of V twin pipes and seems to hold up very well. These are the double wall pipes like the Busa mid pipes, not the single layer ones. I don't think the powercoat can handle that. I've never been impressed with spray can hi heat paint.  Maybe it's improved in the past ten years.

I paint engine blocks/heads with 1200 degree paint.  You can find it in black if you look.  You'll need to prep the pipes properly, or they won't accept paint.  No guarantee that the pipes won't burn off 1200 degree paint.

I painted my VTX engine with the 1200 degree paint and it stayed on fine. I was told to treat it as in run it for a few min and let it cool a few times untill the smell goes away. I also let it set for a week. If you dont have much pipe showing you could try and do the pipe wrap. I think it looks like crap on some but great on others. Ceramic coat should stay on bet make a call to the the local shops and see what their 2 cents are. I would also borrow an inferred temp gun run the bike up to speed and get a reading on the pipes. My friend has one I have been bugging him to use it to see what mine were running. I also wondered the before and after temp of my engine after I painted it.
Good luck

BUSA SS has his painted. I think he used some kind of BBQ grill paint. Looked great.
