An Evansville woman promised sex to a man who had just hit it big at Casino Aztar but stole the loot from him when they reached the woman's residence, police allege.
Donna Hayes of 922 W. Florida St. faces charges of theft and prostitution. According to an affidavit, a man who had just won $2,160 on a slot machine late Thursday was approached by Hayes, who told him she needed a ride and would have sex with him if he took her home.
Upon reaching the West Florida Street address, the man and Hayes both undressed and went into a bathroom. The man told police he had left his casino winnings and some of his paycheck, about $3,200 total, in a sock on a floor outside the bathroom.
He said Hayes left the bathroom before he did and when he came back out, both the money and Hayes were gone. Two people and a child who had been in another part of the house also were gone.
The man told police he got dressed and then began removing a television, VCR, compact discs and other items from the house and placed them in his van "to cover his stolen money."
Hayes, who had been in a residence next door, saw what the man was doing and called police to report a burglary. Police arrested Hayes, who denied taking the man's money and offering him sex, after doing interviews at the scene.
The man was not arrested and the property he took from the residence was returned.
