anyone know were the catalitic converter is on a 07 . befor i start pulling my bike down. anyone done the mod , what if any gains, also.
i know a full system would cure it but no cash for that yet. runing a nice set of short vipers cans .. nice deep sound ,, and with the ivans tre.a k and n.
thats about it for me .. just wondering if this cat needs to go. from some of the best heads in the world on busa stuff .. you should know..

respect to all:beerchug:

no real need to remove the thing if it even has one (in the mid pipe).. bike is tuned to it..

on the flip side, you MIGHT get a couple hp by removing and re-tuning.. IF that is the case, I would suggest just buying an aftermarket pipe and saving the old one.. You might just need the stock pipe down the road.. (has happened before)..

On a Gen1 the restriction in the stock system is the main header itself...just get a full system :beerchug:

Exhaust sytems are designed specifically with exhaust gas velocities in mind. The size of the tubing and how/where it tapers affects the pipes performance. The cat is designed into the system to work with the overall flow, by its size and configuraton. Removing it could leave a bigger hole, or "chamber" of slower moving exhaust gases in the system, and affect performance negatively. Car and bike guys have found on dyno's that the cats in the headers themselves don't have much, if any, effect on hp. Its the restrictive mufflers, and overall design of the header system that controls that. You might gain a tiny bit of performance by dumping the cat, or you might actually lose some, depending on how the systems designed. Personally I wouldn't bother with it. Just save up until you can get a full aftermarket system
