Cool.
I found one that had been "Factory Demoed" here in Tucson. It already had 5,000+ miles on it, and I seriously doubt it had seen any kind of break in period. Nonetheless, the dealer is both a Suzuki and Honda dealer, adn I ahve purchased bikes from him before, so he knew that I was serious about buying one of the two bikes...
As I said in another post, I have ridden the XX before, but not been able to ride a 'Busa yet.
This was my first opportunity to sit on both side-by-side, too. It's obvious that the 'Busa is more purposely built, with a seating position better suited for aggressive riding, all aluminum frame, adjustable suspension, etc... But that is nothing that none of us didn't know already.
They said that it had been "factory demoed," but I seriously suspect that it was a bike from one of the magazines. It was black and silver, no mods that I could see, and could have used a new set of rubber. It looked like the tires were original, but I can't imagine that to be true at 5,000 miles.
What I am about to tell you isn't something that I really want to admit, 'cause I am not a Suzuki person by nature. Nonetheless, the bike was absolutely incredible. The power was the strongest I have ever experienced in any bike, except for a few that I have been on that are custom drag bikes. The bike handled well. Much better than a XX...
(Gasp!) I liked it better than the XX that I wanted a month ago. It was unbeliveable...
BTW... No problems on the bike that I could see. No tapping anything (it was solid, like a missle) and 6th gear was just as available as 2nd and 3rd.
Seemed to me that Suzuki created something that Honda fell short of. I think that the 'Busa's mission statement is much clearer than the XX's was. What was Honda trying to do? Create a sporty tourer? Suzuki just made the fastest sportbike available, and made it much more comfortable than I remember...
But hey, don't tell anyone here... They all thought I only wanted the XX, and that I was just here to start stuff.
I was here to find out which was a better bike, and I don't think I actually got my answer until I rode one today. Funny... Worn out tires, too (worn on the edges, not in the middle... Interesting, hunh?)
"Butt horse meter" says that 160 hp is probably a real number. Why did Honda take away 5 hp on the XX? Why is it so upright a position? I thought I liked that, but the truth is that I thought the 'busa was MORE comfortable, kinda like a XX is more comfortable than a cruiser at speed.
