It wasn't a picture that sealed the deal for me, either. I was on patrol one day and saw a Jeep Cherokee at a gas station pullin' a trailer with two solid silver busa's on it. Both had been custom painted solid silver. One had chrome wheels and the other had a set of polished aftermarket wheels. They both looked fuggin' KILLER!
They didn't have any decals other than the Kanji put back on 'em so I had no idea what they were. I'd never heard of a Hayabusa before. All I knew was that those two bikes were the sweetest lookin' sportbikes I had ever seen. I asked what they were and the dudes said they were Hayabusas. Hell, I thought that "Hayabusa" must be the manufacturer's name. Lol...
Anyway, from that day on I knew I wanted a Hayabusa. When I got ready to buy my first sportbike back on '03 I went lookin' and only then did I find out Suzuki made the Hayabusa.
I sat on one and it fit me better than any of the other '03 sportbikes so I knew it was right for me. I went home to do some internet research on 'em. I pulled up a search engine and typed in "suzuki hayabusa" and hit enter... The first three results that popped up included the term "world's fastest production street bike"... It wasn't until that moment that I knew about the busa's capabilities.
After findin' out the busa's "status" I figured, well, there's no way I'll be able to afford insurance on the damned thing. I went and looked at an '03 burnt copper LE and got financing lined up. Then I called about insurance. Got quoted somethin' like $4800 a year on the first call... Needless to say, that shut the deal down. I came home and ended up findin' this forum. I joined under the name "WannaBusa" and started playin' around. Someone here suggested calling State Farm for insurance quotes so I did. When State Farm quoted it at just barely more than what it costs to insure my 1995 Maxima I was on fire! Wasn't long after that when I found Train and got a sweet deal on 'er. I had Captain change my name to BulletTrain (actually went through a few variations before settlin' on that exact name), and the rest is HISTORY.
However, sort of on topic, but also sorta off topic, there's a pic that pretty much sealed the deal on Black Devil. This is a photo of a window cling poster I talked my dealer out of. He's got a nice banner type version on his office wall that he promised me when he gets an '05 poster of some kind to replace it with.
Here's the poster of the pic I'm talkin' about. That all black 10R with race slicks sittin' on that track just gives me fuggin' goose bumps!
