The local dealership charges $65 hr for labor and say if less than one hour to change chain then cost is cut. Question, If I deliver my bike without the fairings on it will this cut off any time or should I just let them do the work?
If they are only putting on a chain, then all they do is cut the old one and link the new one onto it and pull the old one out and the new in...no need to remove anything. Then they LOOSEN the rear wheel to adjust the new chain.
+100 on the DIY... I posted a thread that did a step by step (with pictures of course) to make it easier. It's in the DIY Maintenance sections somewhere since the search funtion is down. Get a TOOL... Jumbo Tool from Motion Pro...
I won't let anyone touch my bike to do any kind of maintenance on it... except for Ken Wheeler over in Robbinsville (tires). Get some tools and learn what it's all about, you'll ultimately be more happy!
i agree
buy the tool and learn how to do EVERYTHING yourself
by the time you drive there WAIT job completed and drive home you could have done it 3 times over
i also do a chain change like BA busa explained
work smarter not harder
i dont let anyone touch my rides
learned that while racing
do i trust anyone else at 160 mph NOT
