Chain failure

I saw a black & gray today that the chain broke on, it was not a pretty sight.The bike had 5000 miles with no abuse, still had orginal tire.

The chain went into the cases,he said when he shifted from first to second is when it broke @ 5000 rpms.

What was the damage? Just stuffed chain?

I'm glad the guy wasn't hurt.

You can get your leg whipped when that happens.

There was a guy here locally who broke a chain,some Busa's are plagued by bad chains,Suzuki had to replace mine at 500 mi. you must constantly check and adjust a new chain,I think some of these people are not doing that,the chain gets loose,causing it to whip,and it breaks.

My chain has now stopped streaching. It did so around 3500 miles. What about every one else?

EXCLR8: Same with me. I'm now at 8,000 miles and have seen virtually no further stretching.

Adjusted mine twice, around 1000 and 2500. No more at 6300.

ive got 4700 on mine and it is the same way...........stopped stretching. Im happy about that..........

When I changed the tire at 4000 I also adjusted but it wasn't too bad.
