Change rear, keep front tire.

The rear tire a BT56 with 5000 miles on it, is a gonner. The BT56 front still looks like has some miles left on it. I'm tempted to get a new rear BT56 and keep the front BT56 on. Do a 3 rear : 2 front of changes. Present wear on the rears at 5 k miles the front would go 7500 miles.
I ride roughly 24 k miles a year. Considering the Winter riding going to be doing. The center tread is going to wear square. By next spring will change out another rear tire as riding wears the tires more evenly. Somewhere around Summer will put some Diablos on front and back.
This is unique cause less powerful motorcycle wear both tires out at same time. No question changing both front and back. Question is changing a new rear only and use it with a not so new front.

Sure thing, But I recommend the BT010, Just a thought, in 200 or 190... I liked it alot better than the older BT56. Predictable, stable, no worries..

i do it all the time. The front doesn't wear as much because it is not smoking and is being carried several inches off the pavement.

Familar with the BT10 and BT20. I liked their handling. Was some feathering going on during last few thousand miles. Mostly on front tire. BT10 is softer then BT20. Hear many run the BT20 rear with BT10 front. I'll consider doing this thanks.
Heh understood, wheelie anology. Only diffrerence is mine still on the ground but weighs very little. It's actually tearing the rear tire up, bunch little globules of rubber. But what really did it to the rear tire last few rides was drifting the rear tire in 2nd and 3rd. I think I need to adjust the chain again

One thing you can count on... If you are REALLY playing on a Busa, No Burnouts required, your going to absolutely murder that rear tire.

As for mixing and matching tires, the only thing I think I can add is to just make sure you never have a harder compund on the front and a softer on the rear... You do not want your front pushing with your rear sticking... Makes things go boom... Harder rear no sweat though it might be too hard and not much fun..

Like I said, I will be going with BT014's I think. They are designed with hi-power applications in mind so what the hell, I'll give em' a shot.

Four years of riding and I always lose the rear tire first...even in a less powerful R6...it isn't that big of a deal to change the rear first...and leave the front....just be sure to keep an eye on the front and make sure it is in good shape....

My last change was to a set of Diablo's. GREAT tire ! I know I'll never beat a GSXR750 in the tight twisties - but the Diablo certainly helps close the gap.
