Chauvin guilty on all charges

One would hope this would be a learning lesson for the rest of the police that this sort of thing is not acceptable....

Once those cuffs go on that should be the end of it...I've seen them taser or pepper spray people in cuffs...that's not on...

On the other hand, hopefully it won't make police officers get shell-shocked and get a bunch of them killed by second guessing their actions too much.

Even when we captured terrorist fighters, once the zap cuffs were on, that was that, nobody came along and hit them or anything....

God why even make this post everyone read or heard the news... let's hope this doesn't deteriorate into a poop flinging show...
There's nothing to deteriorate....it was a cut and dry case.....

In the end even the most vile criminal is entitled to a trial whether anyone agrees with it or not.

It's up to the police to apprehend, detain and deliver criminals into the justice system.

@Bumblebee I'm neither African or African American or even American, I've read previous post on here about close topics that really pushed people apart. I support the black community 100% and I no nothing of their struggle but threads like these always seems to bring out the worst and its like the people who post it love putting fuel on the fire. He's convicted (which I support personally) we don't need a thread on a hayabusa forum to bring the topic back up again that literally just happened. I love argueing about other news/politics but the race thing is so emotionally charged lately I wonder why anyone would even post this.

The media hasn't made a lot of the trial. I haven't seen any of the coverage. Obviously it was determined that Chauvin caused Floyd's death but was it also determined that the crime was racially motivated?

I hear you, the politics thread went south quickly, however, this is news, everyone could watch it live...
The trial is over, the outcome which happened was expected, sentencing is coming and time to move forward.

I didn't hear anything about the death being racially motivated...

Stupidity motivated maybe...

So you're saying look away, don't discuss it?

He wasn't charged with a hate crime. The trial was interesting and there is a video so you can watch the murder minute by minute for yourself if you like.

Sadly there have been several sketchy police interactions occurring in death of the suspect in the past and it seems nothing was learned from those as they are still happening.

I certainly do not know what some police officers are thinking....they MUST know they are most likely filmed during pretty much each and every interaction with the public and if they do stupid things, it will be brought to light in a second.

The stress of working like this must be overwhelming at times....

I used to enjoy watching "Live PD" as it often showed a different side of policing...there was an episode where a young police officer had a dance off with a couple kids....the little ones told him he had some moves....there were several of those types of interactions sprinkled in with a lot of chases and apprehensions..

One law maker said there should be more and more "Live PD" shows as having camera crews streaming live unedited police interactions is never a bad thing. It keeps everyone honest.

I'm fine with discussing but most people don't get on the internet to "discuss" especially such charged topics as this....
I don't think the topics in the Politics section do not show up with a new topics listing, so they are easy to ignore if you like. This forum has been fairly successful in discussing difficult topics generally. Only in the last four years has this become so confrontational. I don't need to say why that is.

Some people have common sense, some don’t.

Some people have very high IQ’s but almost no street smarts.

Some people have below average IQ’s, yet they have really good common sense and are really street smart.

Some have both.

Some are just stupid.

I am trying to figure out where Chauvin fits?

He obviously did not plan this, it happened in the moment. Did he know he is going to cause a fatality, while on camera? Was that his intention? Was he thinking, or just acting sub consciously? Or, is he just plain stupid? Does this have anything to do with race, or skin color?
