Cheap bracket for license plate in 30 minutes

I looked at the area where to bolt the bracket to and measured for the plate to fit flush with the swingarm. Simple piece of 3/16 flatbar bent to a L shape with 3 holes drilled and rounded off by the edge of the plate. Took me no longer than 30 minutes from scratch. My question is are the law dogs gonna mess with me cuz how far back i mounted it?I'm gonna wire a led light on the plate so thats not a problem.. Thanks for any input as far as the plate position goes.

Lol thats a good question i thought about I was wondering how and if it would hold up being behind the exhaust how much wind current it would get at high speeds. If it flexes i will just weld more flatbar to stabilize the top... if needed...
This is my first bike so im having fun modding it and learning from this awesome board some tricks i would have never guessed...

Cool, you might be ok, just make sure you get that light on there. I am sure some other tx folks will chime in with what they have and what works. Cant wait to see your new paint.

here in Indiana its not legal to be anywhere other then in the normal place on the undertail, but all the leo's i talk to say they dont care as long as they can read it

true about indiana my friend that has a KZ1000 had his mounted in the same area and he got warned alot by cops thats not a allowed cause they cant raed it left tp right i guesse cops are just that stupid

ok well, this sucks cuz it wont allow the arms on the rear stand to get under the swingarm... the plate needs to extend it out much further... trial and error...lol

Love the bracket, low cost, simple and easy for others to replicate. Good job!

Nice mod but is some state it is illegal to mount your tag vertical. Check with your state before doing this mod.

My plate is on a hinge and i love it, i ll get some pics up later. when its down u cant even tell its on a hinge

Bounce up and down on the bike and see if the exhaust hits the plate. You could get into some trouble if your pipe hits the bracket while riding and hit a dip in the road.

Vert is cool in Texas but,you might want at least to extend it to catch the top two holes. If not its going to flap untill it breaks right across the top of your flat bar. It won't take long and it's a pain to get a new license plate. Good idea it's just that license plates are not very ridged alone.
