Didn't you say 2700 miles?
If I drove my vehicle with my trailer and the bike enclosed 2700 miles I'm pretty sure that it
would cost that much for fuel alone, not to mention rest stops and food etc.
So if U-ship has to hire a driver and buy the truck and pay the insurance and the fuel cost etc. I'd
think that there wouldn't be to much profit left over, after a 2700 mile delivery.
If you found someone with a pickup truck they might be able to do it slightly less,
but not if they had to make a return trip! Count your blessings I heard to send a bike overseas is well over a grand.
Did you post, why are you flying out (maybe I missed it) instead of driving?
Less then a year? Even if it was only 6 months, don't you need other stuff to survive?
Is the company you work for supplying you with a furnished apartment or house to live in? and a car to?
so all you need is your bike? How about clothes, and other personal stuff?
I don't blame you at all for wanting your bike with you. If I went to CA, I'd take my bike in a heartbeat to ride
year round in some of the best weather in the states. Just be prepared for 9% tax and higher prices on most stuff there.
I wouldn't change the registration either - Like I said just be cool and you won't have any problems. I lived in another state
for 18 months with a 4 wheel vehicle and 2 bikes and never had a problem. Even call my home state and had them send the
license plate renewals to me telling them I was just on a long trip but would be returning, which I did eventually.
