<span style='font-size:17pt;line-height:100%'>USE YOUR HIGHBEAM on/off SWITCH to OPERATE YUR EXISTING GARAGE REMOTE</span>
WITHOUT ADDING A "PUSH BUTTON" to your bike
Save yourself the $29.00 -$90.00 bucks!
Either put a "remote" located button on your dash somewhere and wire to the garage door opener; so when you push your new button on the dash it "pushes the GDO button for you" (soldering wires to GDO required)
Or Use your HIGHBEAM switch to open your garage door without buying a $30-$90 add on wired in accessory.
Basically.
take a 12V powered garage door opener (GDO). DONT FRY YOUR 9V OPENER!
Solder a jumper across the two contacts that you would normally solder wires too in the above mod. Shorting the two out. Now with the jumper soldered across the two points the "BUTTON" is always "PRESSED". Button is now worthless at this point unless you cut jumper!
Remove the 12v battery(s).
Solder a wire onto the (NEG) side and a wire onto the (POS) side of where the batteries would connect to the board on the GDO.
Connect those two wires to your highbeam switch or at the highbeam bulb. NEg to Neg Pos to Pos.
Now when you toggle the highbeam switch you are applying 12volts to the GDO which already has the button pressed. The Garage door will open, toggle again will close etc. The GDO is designed to PULSE OUT ONE SIGNAL FOR EACH PRESS, SO ONE SIGNAL FOR EACH TOGGLE!. Works great. I cant remember the wire for the turn signal cancel wire because that button works very well.
ESSENTIALLY YOUR TOGGLING THE POWER NOT THE BUTTON!
VERY VERY GOOD "MO TIME THAN $$" MOD for a garage door.
Here is one example w/pics on a Zx6r. He did alot of extra work but it says the same thing. 2 Door and 3 Door can be done as well using a relay or two.
