Chrome bolt trick

If you have any chrome or anodized bolts on your bike, before you wrench on em, put a piece of saran wrap over the bolt first. Same goes with chrome allen key bolts. Put the saran wrap over the allen wrench itself. This technique will reduce the chance of damaging the chrome or scratching up the anodization. A sandwich bag will work also if you can squeeze it in, as it's a tiny bit thicker than saran wrap.!!
Good luck on your projects.
Happy Wrenching..!!

That is a great idea, I had not even thought of that before even though the process seems very simple.

I usually put masking tape over the allen wrench or the around the bolt head, has worked for me. Any thin covering will do the trick most likely.

This is one of the reasons I have taken to using stainless steel fastners wherever I can. They don't get stuck as much so you don't need to put as much torque on them plus the metal is pretty durable anyway.

Good tip though, I'll file it away in my tips library!
