Chrome from the factory.

With Chevrolet talking about offering an airride suspension package for the new trucks and big billet wheels to match, it got me and my friends bsing about bikes and crap and we all wonder why Suzuki or any other maker don't offer a chrome package for the sportbikes? It just makes sense to offer it. I would've gladly paid a couple grand more to get my Busa new with a chrome frame, swingarm and wheels or more. Maybe in the future it'll happen. But for now i'll just have to keep polishing my frame, Grrrrrrrrr.

It's just the cost factor...Mass production of the same thing equals less manufacturing cost...It would seem that they would make a few stand alone bikes for the sort of purchase you suggest...

I would say it's a cost issue.

I think it would be more than 2K for a complete chrome package. Not only will you have to pay for the chrome parts, you'll also have to pay for the labor to have them put on. I don't know the cost of a frame, but I priced a factory swingarm when my battery leaked acid on it, and the swingarm itself was $1300 MSRP, about $900 dealer cost. Now imagine the cost of a complete chrome package from Suzuki. Ouch!

Example: My Electra-Glide came outfitted with dam near every chrome piece you could imagine, plus a factory big-bore kit. $8000.00 in options total. That price include the 40 hours of labor for its installation. That's about $2600 just in labor. I love the looks of it, but cring at the thought of the total cost of the bike...I could have had almost 3 Busa's for that.

Here's a pic. (Sorry for the size, but it shows the detail)

I'd be happy if they just offered more paint options. Hard to understand why a top-of-the-line bike is offered with two color choices each year (and why is the LE only one color?)

It's kinda like how all the cool factory paintjobs are usually only offered on the 600's. The new Repsol edition CBR1000RR has caught my eye, what a cool looking bike. Hmmm, Repsol Busa?

48% of all the busa's sold, go down. It wouldn't be lodgical or cost effective to have all that fancy high dollar stuff on your busa when it's time to replace it. If you are going to spend tons of money on a sport bike, buy a Ducati. I personally like buying a cheap bike that I can crash and not have to rob a bank to replace. It's all about marketing. If more people were like you and wanted to spend another 2 G's on their bike for a little chrome, they would put chrome wheels on all of them! There is not much profit in a busa for 10 G's but a huge profit in selling fairings for ten times the manufacturing cost. Trust me, when it becomes profitable to fancy them up, it will be done!

Where did you come up with this figure?

Oh and Save the Chrome for the Cruiser crowd... THAT is why Suzuki Doesn't do it from the factory. There is a small minority that dig it, the rest think it's a silly waste of proper sportbike metal...

Now anodizing.... Hmmm... Folks have been chroming shid since the 50's. It's sort of an out dated cool IMHO...

bottom line is for the factory to provide chrome on the bike as we know it. They would actually have to start using semi-decent aluminum to build them and you know what that means. more costs for you carbon tank pad/gas cap cover lovers

A disgruntled Suzuki employee recently leaked that info. He provided confidential paperwork that proves the kick stand conspiracy theory along with peak sales figures for left side fairing panels.

wow a conspiracy theory,,,,,,,,, Now why am I believing that......everyone out to stub a person in the back!!!
make sense though and goes along the lines of computer printers, cheap as heck until you run outta ink

I never meant to imply that i think Suzuki should have ALL the busas chrome from the factory, i wouldn't want that. I simply stated that it would be nice to in the least have a chrome wheel option. A chrome factory frame/swingarm would be very nice. Or how about about a high performance option, like upgrading your bike to Ohlins suspension, lightweight wheels, Titainium bolts and/or Carbon fiber bodywork Maybe offer a GSXR1000 R Model kinda like the 999R Ducati for the trackday guys, you see where i'm going with this? This type of variety would benefit us all, factory and buyers.

Some people like chrome, some don't, i do.  I like chrome when it's applied to a bike tastefully, and yes you can actually have too much chrome on a bike. Even if Suzuki had to up it's quality of material to chrome and the cost went up, the price might suck, but you would get a much better motorcycle for your money wether you got the chrome parts or not.

I like my Busa, it's a keeper, but in the time i've had it, i've had more little irritating problems with my bike than i ever had with my 2 other Kawasaki's.
Suzuki really could step up the quality of it's product in all areas on the bike.

I can refer you to several Suzuki shops that will sell you a new busa chromed.

I'm chroming and painting my bike myself, a few parts at a time.
