Just wondering, how often do you guys & galz hear from your civil defense?

In Hawaii it's a regular thing. Usually high surf advisories, and once each month they test the warning sirens and emergency radio broadcast... but also hurricane info, earth quake, Tsunami ...anyway several times a year for sure. However I have not heard once from the Calif civil defense.

Currently I am in Hilo working on home repair and maintenance and the first winter surf has arrived kinda early, so the civil defense warnings are out.

What about in your area? What warning systems do u have?

For the eighteen years that I lived in California I never saw a "legit" warning come across the "EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM".
I am sure that folks in Tornado alley ought to have some stories for you.

Tornado siren test once a month, we actually had an"Amber Alert" last week. I was pissed about the interruption until I realized what it was........
When I lived in SoCal, I never heard nothing, but the siren in S.F. sounded the first Tuesday of the month at noon. Loud as hell! Sounded like a piped bike running up the revs at first, but then it just got higher pitched!

Nuclear power plant siren goes of once a month here.[/Quote]

Hope you are not near three mile island, Gunny

I live on a reservation so we dont have a siren, but they test the smoke signals twice a year

I say swim, but I was a decent body-boarder/surfer in my day! Never was any good at surfing though......
