Cleaning vales?

Is there any way to clean the valves without taking it apart or does it even matter if they are dirty? Obviously additives dont really work so well. Im thinking of getting a spray bottle and misting seafoam on it while running the engine? Ideas?

Picture does not show so well but the valves is black and gunky

Just leave that bike alone!

You should ride more and not try and find new
ways to fugg it up.

Oh ok.

Personally those valves look terrible and I think best thing to do is a complete disassembly of the engine after which you should send it to China for a proper cleaning.

Already ahead of you. I Have already been in touch with Chang's Cycles. They said just ship them the whole engine and transmission and they will do all the work. Even rebuild my transmission :beerchug:

Mine are pretty clean with a maintenance dose <each tank> of Techron concentrate. The NOACK volatility<= vapors> of the oil i use is 6% whereas many other oils can be as high as 15% . I lean out the idle area on the PCIII because of valve overlap around idle speed and also keep idle speed a minimum of 1600rpm's to lube the cams which helps valve cleanliness as a side result . < also overlap related > Literaly hearing the <cams clean up > is race jargon for how a race profile reacts to raising the throttle vs another profile with different lobe separation, duration ect ect. It's been years since i ran stock cams but they clean up somewhere around 2100rpm as i recall. Where cam lope goes away that is.

Anyway , it's been a long time since i read the white papers but there are two general types of fuel cleaners and one of them actual increases deposits when overdosed . I just remember Techron doesn't use that particular component in the formula.

Once crusted up bad , only glass blasting will remove it .

Interesting, thank you for the insight :beerchug:.

Your welcome .I've seen it guessed around on before but never posted. It's all part of a bigger picture.

I mean there's more but lack of velocity at idle speed with some overlap is the fundamental portion . Other factors like oil , oil additives and oil volatility including gas with low additive treat-rate comes into play. The EPA and other organizations thinks phosphorus levels in oils internal coat and kill cat converters prematurely and oil makers keep lowering levels because of it. Many switched to an ashless dispersant years ago which helped.

There's a nameless motorcycle oil on the market that touts engine cleanliness. Yeah right, you oughta see the additive pack. Hardly anything in it. More of those types will follow .
