clear tailight lens,mod i saw???????

i recently seen a 99' busa with an interesting tailight. i want to say it looked like it was clear in the middle and red on both sides? does that make sense? anyone know of a mod like this or what he did?i dont want to put turnsignals in bike because i have flush mounts for undertail. i have the bike apart right now waiting for paint on undertail.(bastrd)
