It was a tough day!   Got up @ 0500 and was on the trail by 0630.   Made the summit by noon.      Took 4 hours going down.  Was a good experience, but man I am pooped.

Took a Marine buddy with me, so it was quite the experience with a flyboy & a ground-pounder on the expedition.

Here is a pic of "original" Bullet Train... (pun intended)  It goes 300 kph, but pricey.

Mt Fuji prior to the climb. Taken from MCB Camp Fuji.

Yeah...that's the pic I liked too...almost makes me want to see it in person, but my husband travels to Japan so much and I've heard too many horror stories! Don't think I'll ever make it there! :)

(don't worry...they're just horror stories about food and how packed those trains are...nothing bad!)

Thanks for the replies...

Kind of a horror story:

Taking the trains, (we took 9 of them total) we were doing out best to match up the Kanji at each station with our tickets.  We did not miss any stops/switches, but were pretty worried for some time.  In mainland japan, the japanese do not have to speak English, like everywhere else in the world.  We were pretty much on our own.  But we made it!
