Clutch cover bolts

Hey guys, Could someone PLEASE tell me what the hell the three bolts do on the outside of the clutch cover? At first i thought there was an inspection plate there?, but i removed all three bolts and NOTHING ??? ........ did not want to pry too hard and brake it but for the life of me i cant see what these bolts are there for! Thx for any help
