Does anyone elses clutch grab within the last inch or so of full lever release? Mine does, I dont know how to get it so it will grab throughout the lever release. Maybe I need a new clutch
I have the same irritating issue. I added heavier springs only to find that they were too heavy for the stock set-up. They made the clutch grab instead of slip.
I keep saying I need to bleed the clutch, but I haven't. That could possibly help.
I am going also change the steels and fibers in the clutch and see if that give me the feel I need. If not I will call MPS or some other performance company and order a set of spacers to give the spings a slight more throw.
I don't think he is having issues with the clutch chattering and grabbing. I think he is referring to the distance the lever has to be released before the clutch ever engages.
So the clutch feels good and is releasing correctly....and you just want to move it to the point it engages.
If the lever adjuster does not get it in close enough to the bar, you have two options that I know of.
1) a set of pazzo levers that have a larger range of adjustment (what I am using)
2) brock has an adjuster that will move it in closer
fstbusa has a good point. I’m just assuming a good clutch. I'd inspect the clutches and make sure they are within factory specs. Adjust the stack height to 1.98-2.00†total height and throw in a fresh set of springs before I went to far. I’m surprised fstbusa’s is grabbing right off the bar however, from the ones I have seen that is rare and the reason for the Brock piece. Check out the text in the link.
