clutch noise

ive noticed when i pull the clutch in in 1st or 2nd or sometimes just idling it makes like a whirling sound or like a whining ive never heard it before but maybe i just never noticed it is this normal

Gen 1 or 2, if its the Gen 2 check your bolts that are inside the clutch basket, there was a recall where the bolts would back out because of lack of locktite, if it sounds like a rattling sound thats your problem!

all my bikes get noisier when the oil is wearing out. How long since your last oil change?

Gen 1 or 2, if its the Gen 2 check your bolts that are inside the clutch basket, there was a recall where the bolts would back out because of lack of locktite, if it sounds like a rattling sound thats your problem!

vin check at dealer to see if recall was done.
If not get it done as hes right some of the bolts may be backing out on you and what you may be hearing is bolt head gouging inside of cover.

If its a loose clutch basket bolt you have repair it ASAP as the scraps from the cover might cause damage.Leave the bike on its side stand an simply remove the clutch cover(minor loss of oil..if you're not going to change it).Search for scratches to the inner side of the cover and if there are some , remove bolts gradually and locktite all of them before retightening

Mic I'm not sure but I think there are some improved washers that are used when performing recall a dealer ?

Probably.....My dealer,as a close friend,introduce me that way of fixing it....a year ago.I believe you have earlier informations.I never had that issue with mine ...but I like to be always ready

i called the dealership and they said the 09 didnt have any recalls and ran my vin and said that nothing was recalled on mine???

the issue with the basket bolts is not a recal....just a notification.It can happen anytime

thanks for the help after *****ing and moaning i finally got the stealership to fix it they didnt want to

For future reference, this does affect 09s. Mine had the same problem. Instead of pitching a fit, I took mine in, told them to fix my problem. They opened it up and what do you know, clutch basket bolts had backed out. They fixed and sent in paperwork for the TSB and charged Suzuki.

I've found with TSB issues, its best to just go in and make the verbal complaint of the symptoms listed on the TSB. Then let them perform diagnostics and repair on there own. When it comes time to settle up, bring them the TSB printed. They will be reimbursed by Suzuki and the argueing is much more brief if at all.
