Well i am in need of getting a new clutch.I do a have the clutch mod already done. ( welded setup)
Wanted some of the pro's on here:bowdown: to enlighten me on a non lock-up setup.
Need fibers an steels and wanting stiffer springs(have orients springs in there now and they were stiffer than oem,not by much)
Was looking at a clutch = #CPK1300GSX and springs =HDCS1300GSX at hayabusazone ( assume they are both by APE).
I am also looking to get another sprocket\case saver as well
Also trying to get info on synthetic oils that will work well with a non lock-up
set up..
I have people claim that oem fibers and steels are the best but thought i would broaden my horizons ask the faithful on here ( Boostbysmith,HPC Petrik etc..)
Well please advise and thankx for all your time.

Not a pro, but got a little experience from the drag racing side....
Stock clutch fibers and steels are the best.
Schnitz carries heavy springs, but get a slave support before you install them.
Some people like Brock's clutch cushion set up, I don't. Nothing wrong with it, just not for me.
Stock clutch set up (non-lockup) is good up to about 250 hp, at least that seems to be the general opinion. Not gonna hurt anything by using one with less though.
Oil, you will have as many opinions as you have responses. I use synthetic. Mobil 1 or Castrol. :beerchug:

Gretz,Mr Brown
Well thanks for the answers.
Ok on the spring deal i have orient express heavy duty springs in now
but like i posted before they are not that much stiffer than stock. So i assume
if i go with the ape springs i better do the cover mod or replace it with a billet
set up.
As far as the oil thing which Mobil1 and which Castrol are you referring to?

I installed Schnitz heavy springs and couldn't figure out why the clutch wouldn't disengage. Turns out the slave cover was broken and flexing when the lever was pulled.
I forget what weight oil is called for in the bike, and it's snowing so I'm not walking out to the garage, but I use Castrol or Mobil synthetic whichever is on sale, factory weight.

Well my 09 oils weight is suppose to be 10w40w. I was thinking of going 5w30w in the synthetic ie, mobil1 or who ever i guess i choose.
Yea amen on the d@mn snow we got a few inches here as well.lol.. :)
Will look and the slave cover to see if it's cracked.
Thanks,maddogs_1340

I bought the brocks parts...clutch mod...springs etc. I needed to buy the case saver from canadian mike because the plastic cover broke the second time I pulled in the clutch. The heavy springs get anoying...long levers are a plus vs the short ones on the clutch side.

Well what does canadian mike have to offer?Possible to get a link?
I'm not a real big fan of brock yet..
Thankx,maddog_1340

I am not sure if he still has them but it is a billet case saver / sproket cover.
You could search "canadian mike" find one of his posts, click on his name, and send him a pm.

dont use APE fibers! they didnt make 50 passes on a stock motor bike with 40lbs springs. Ive got fast by gast in there now but its gonna be a while before i can try them. 18 degrees out now and suppost to be 5 tonight. burrrrr dam it

Hi,dragonbusa
well my stock setup (well all most stock orient springs) has made 40+ passes and 3,500+ miles.
Looking to use the 60lbs springs and install a billet case saver / sproket cover.
Sounds like i will be using stock fibers and steels for now.
And oh ya its real cool out my way 13 degrees looking to hit 0 oh ya.. :)

I"m using the schnitz 40lbs springs and they made the clutch a good bit harder to squeeze, those 60s are going to be tuff on the street, If your motor is stock i dont see any need for 60s

Yep motor stock, just a pipe and A/S and tweaked the stock ECU.
Well i have the orients in there now and it was barely noticeable i have them in.
Figure i would try the 60lbs springs and see how stiff it was,if to stiff could use one of the 60lbs on every other spot on the plate.

Best clutch pack I've used is cycle Concepts Drag pack. we have 4 08 Busa's using them and all are going over 200 passes and a couple pushing 300 passes. we all use heavy springs as well. last time I bought one it was 155.00
