CO2 inflator

I'm going to pick up a CO2 inflator to carry on the bike for the long trips. Does anyone have any idea how many cartridges it would take to fill the rear tire after a flat?

On my old Bandit 1200 I think it used to take 3 but I've never had to use it on the Busa.

My local Walmart now sells the Bell line of motorcycle equipment. I picked up a nice plug kit in a zippered case for about $6 bucks. The CO2 kit is $12.00 with one cartridge. It says you need 3 to 4 to fill a completely flat tire. I believe a 3 pack of extra cartridges was $8 bucks.
I passed on that, by the time you add things up it'll cost you $10 just to fill your tire once.
Went to Meijers and picked up a mini 12 volt air compressor by "Slime". $10 bucks, fits in your hand and use it as often as needed. Size isn't much bigger than the CO2 kit when you factor in the 3 extra cartridges. If you take it apart and ditch the plactic housing it's smaller yet. It does draw a few amps so I'd make sure the bike is running when using it, otherwise you may go from a flat tire to a dead battery.

Does it hook directly up to the battery, or do you need to install a jack somewhere?

PM Ludicrous Speed. He's got an on board compressor wired up to fill his shifter tank. I'm sure he'll tell you how to do it.

got pics of the tire pump?

It has a standard cigarette lighter plug on it. Either cut it off and install a pair of small alligator clips or use an adapter. I use the lighter plug to alligator clip adapter since I had one laying around.

Fleet Farm is probably a good choice but if they don't have one try Walmart. They had a similar pump by Campbell Hausfeld for $10.00 which is supposedly VERY small when removed from the plastic housing. It's recommended by quite a few cyclist. When I was going on a trip a few weeks ago I went to pick one up and they were all out (had a million of them a week before). All 3 local Walmarts were wiped clean. I suspect they sent them down south for hurricane relief.

I haven't taken this one apart since with a bit of persuasion it WILL fit under the seat with your factory tool kit and plug kit. It's a tight fit right under the latch bar but it works and there's still space behind it further back in the tail.
