Color Rite -- is it okay?

I have a few small abrasions on the left fairing from when the bike fell over in the grass -- see item: kickstand. -L-

They aren't scratches, more like sandpaper skuffs. If I bought the touch up painty and clear coat and gave it to a pro body shop for touch up would the product do the job?

I tried the Colorite pen last week and it now looks WORSE . I am actually going to have to put a cute little decal over where it messed up. Now I did it myself so if you took it to a body shop, they certainly do a better job of it.

But wouldn't they maybe refuse and try to sell you their service's?

You can go to a quality paint shop they will match your color perfectly but as for a shop they will prolly want to paint the whole piece.

bjewell -They sell the OEM colors, the only reason I can think that it wouldn't match is if the bike's paint has faded. Also paint with a coat of clear looks different than straight paint. How bad are the scratches? Have you tried buffing them out? You might try some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. You'd be amazed at what a little compound and elbow grease can do!

theshnizzle - What exactly did you do to make it worse? Clean, sand, clean (prime if needed), apply, dry, sand, polish, glaze then wax? You'll never get showroom results if you just dab some paint on it. Guess that's why paint/body shops charge so much.

Actually I've learned quite a bit from my neighbor who's done paint/body work professionally for over 15 years. Seen him take a faded, scratched up car and make it shine like new again without touching a paint can.

i got some 2007 pearl blue vigor spray can and it matched perfect.. maybe you should try to wetsand with some 2500 grit paper and buff before getting any paint because it might just be in the clearcoat??

i have a nice little chip in my tank and the 08' orange doesn't quite match up like i had hoped. i had to buy 4 pens from color-rite for this little screw up of mine and it looks more like a redish color. i'll try it again another day when i am bored and can't ride.

I have a color rite dealer locally and have used there touch up paint on my Warrior which has a 3 part paint. Base, color, clear and it matches perfectly:thumbsup:

good to hear about that 09 white being a perfect match, i also have a small chip in my front fairing, near the headlight....riding with them dam trackers and them sticky tires ....but i used color right on my 2 previous bikes, 02 telefonica and 05 1000rr red...both matched perfect....only used the pen never the spray or brush tho...

Tail Section was painted with Color Rite Paint....Matched pretty good I think??

I used color rite white for 09. It was not a great match. I tried to touch up specific scratches, and color difference was noticeable. I ended up respraying the scratched fairing so that color difference isn't so obvious.

I've used color-rite several times and from several different purchases. Each matched so closely to the OEM paint that even I have trouble finding the painted over pits, chips, scrapes.

I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

I used the silver and blue to touch up my bike last year and the silver was dead on. The blue was off a bit. Overall I would recommend them though.
