Team Johnny Hot Nuts.. I love it I smile every time I read it..

Thanks guys, sorry for not posting here lately but I have been full hot on getting the car working properly.

For a bit of the sh1t:
This year was a test year for the car and honestly was too soon to run. I rushed the build and took shortcuts to be able to run because gaining the real world knowledge of problems on the salt and how the car would run and handle was more important then making everything perfect....I would of made the same mistakes and would of been pissed because I would hate to change something that I spent tons of time perfecting.

I had 3 goals this year:
1. To get the car to pass tech (not easy for a first year car)
2. To set the Fuel and Gas H modsports records
3. To learn what was the cars weak points.

We did get the car to pass tech, and went better than I thought it would.
We did set a record (one)
We did learn what was wrong with the car so all and all I cant be disappointed.

The only thing I wanted to do was really run the piss out of the motor but I was never able to get it more than 6K in 6th. We quickly found that the car has a dangerous and unpredictable veer at any speed over 100. You would be going great, gradually building speed and the car would jump to another direction. We later found out:
9/16th toe in the rear
The 89 Mazda RX7 rear end has a rear-steer feature that was not disabled and multiplied the effect because of 2" suspension travel.
The nose generated over 1000 pounds of downforce at 100 mph (on a 1500 pound car)
These factors made driving the car real hairy and it was better to set a record soft and to come home with our arse and a car then to push it and f- something up.
We know what we need to do for next year and will be trying for 175-200.

Huge thanks to GC.

Who may not know this but is going to the salt next year

I saw the car a few times here and there in the pits and the staging lanes - really a standout car.

What you said about not pushing it and F'ing something up.... very smart. That's the way we do it. There is NO reason to go to that starting line with several miles of running room in front of you if everything isn't 100%. No reason. Family is just too important.

Good call - BIG THUMBS UP for being safe. I love seeing that.

Thanks GoldenChild,

Land Speed Racing this year was a blast. I stumbled upon this site while searching for APE parts. Small world huh. I will be calling you shortly as soon as I figure out my racing plan for this year.
