Hey Guys,

I've got a full Yoshi system.. TRC i think its called.

I have some cash left over from Xmas... i can get a good deal on a PC-V.

Am i going to really notice the difference or is it Hype?

I cant decide if a) the bikes fecking fast enough as it is or b) tuning it will make it more rideable ?

I'm not after outright power - just want more low down grunt and drivability really... is a PC-V about chasing top end power or is there more to it than that?

Anyone whose got a PC-V care to comment on what difference it has made (if any) in the "real world"?

Don't have a V personally, but from I see most are just going with the ECU reflashing. Looks to do all the PC does plus quite a bit more along with being able to remove any/all the restrictions. Plus if you have someone that knows how to do it right I'm sure they can tune it all in much better than just with the PC. ???

Just my .02, anyhow I'm sure the experts will chime in shortly.

Just putting it on and using a base map from site may not make a big difference.
Put it on and have it dyno tuned and YES you will notice a big diff.

with a good tuner, rideability and performance will improve. canned tune not so much, may even hurt performance.

In a nut shell...
To extract the best of the full system you have to pair it with a BMC or comparable air filter, then Get your self a good dyno tuner, Add on the pcv and have it customized to your bike via the tuner and dyno.

The ECU flash with a proper and qualified person doing it can achieve all of the above and so much more.
ie: derestrict, raise the rev limiter, micro tune, etc.

the stock filter will outflow most any filter, bmc race filter is better than stock but not by much. as long as its got a clean stock air filter or any other good dry filter it'll be fine.

And when your stock filters get dirty you throw them away and buy another @$35. I bought my BMC Race for $65 and clean it every oil change. To each their own.

This has NEVER been proven on a gen2. It is only hearsay and has been debated to death.
There is no way a thinner filter that obiviously flows more air than that stock cardboard brick makes more power.
More air in and more air out tuned correctly equals more power.
There is one post about one gen1 on one dyno that claims it's stock air filter made more power than the K&N.
Any time this comes up there is never any supporting evidence.
This myth either needs to die or have a reputable tuner back it up, which I have never seen happen.:beerchug:

I am in the same boat as you with this. I just cant see spending the hundreds of dollars on my 09 with a full 4-2-1 Akrapovic system on. I would say if you dont have any flat spots, idiling / starting / MPG issues then its up to you how you spend your cash.
Some that have installed a full system had issues in different RPM ranges with flat spots and either went with the Power Commanders or the ECU editor with a dyno tuner to smooth things out. I am not saying you wont increase the HP/Torque numbers but in all honesty I wouldnt notice the difference in 185HP and 192HP not for hundreds of dollars spent.
