hmm....interesting. I can see myself using one. I wonder if that'll save me some skin if I ever go down.

Should be available online soon. I saw a bag sort of like these not to long ago, hard shelled ABS thing, and yeah it will provide some measure of protection in a fall, at least from the initial impact... But your laptop will prolly be a write off....

I keep going back and forth between wearing a Backpack and wanting a Tankbag. Problem I have is trying to find a tank bag that is the right size with the right magnets. So it doesn't leave scratches and will actually stay put if I have say... A SIG 226 with two extra 15rnd mags, or a Laptop in it... Last one I tried moved all over, so I am back to a backpack.... Suzuki's backpack struck me as overpriced and under featured, then you have all of these bags with straps and strings and shiot hanging all over so at speed you feel like a penitent Monk flailing yourself into a frenzy of devotion...sucks... I have one now that hase very few straps and works OK but I like the hardsided stuff if it is done right...

Blah blah blah I know.... Vacuums and now Backpacks....

never seen them tank bags, Rev...I do however, have a bra!

OK, The mother of Hardsided Backpacks and something that would work pretty well on the bike... Hardsided Backpacks

These may look a little strange but they work well.  Just be carefull of imitations on these, I bought a "Closeout" one online and got some BS Chinese knockoff that was just a POS...

Good bags though....  and "AeroDynamic"

I ended up comprimising for space/cost/size. I got one from MooseRacing. It's their Expidition backpack. Lots of pockets, laptop sleeve, straps that do not slip (key point), and is no problem up to 150. Only was $50.

Hey Rev, I think I know what you need, Icon's Urban Tank Bag. I saw one at the local dealer and it is probably the most versatile tank bag I have seen. It has four small magnets that are very powerful but weigh almost nothing. It has a big grab handle to carry it with and it converts to a back pack with wide comfy straps. It has tons of pockets and grommets to run your headphone cords through. It has a soft bottom so it won't scratch your paint and you can flip that part down and strap your helmet in it. Check it out here.

Very cool, that does look just about ideal... I'll have to check into those...

Thanks for the Link Thunder...

DID ANYONE EVER RECALL A BIKE BEING FOR RIDING NOT FOR HAULING YOUR CRAP WHILE YOUR MOVING FROM ONE HOUSE TO ANOTHER, IF YOU CANT PUT IT IN YOUR SEAT OR IN YOUR POCKETS, WHY CARRY IT WHILE RIDING. THATS WHAT PEOPLE HAVE CARS FOR LOADING STUFF

Rev - Just a thought... if you ride with your rear seat hump installed, I wonder if these hard backpacks would rub against it when seated upright at red lights, etc.?
