Coolant Flush Question

Good Day!

It might sound a little silly but I cant help myself. Yesterday I changed all my fluids, including coolant.

I did everything that was mentioned in the manual (hayabusa 2007). I drained the old coolant, flushed the circuit with (non ionised water) and put the new premixed Motul inside. I poured it carefully and moved the bike a little to let the fluid settle, started the engine, etc. But it only took 2,2 liters instead of 2.880 mentioned in the manual. I let the engine idle for minutes and i believe i removed all the air, cooled again checked sev times but it will not take any more.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks for your reply BlueHaya! That were my thoughts because when it comes to manual I stick with it word by word number by number. It does not overheat except in traffic here in Greece at 26 Deg Celsius the gauge indicates at the half - fan kicks in and drops a little below half

I know my Gen II almost took three liters. Did you remove the hose from the water pump ? Like stated above you probably just had coolant left in the system. Drain and change the catch tank too ?

maybe take it for a spin and then let it cool. when i changed the fluid in my 06 i ended up adding some in the side.

I'm sure it's just that you have fluid in the engine. If you didn't take off ALL of the hoses and empty them, that would be enough right there to justify the difference in fl capacity. If you flushed with water, then it would be more or less pure water left over that displaced a bit of the coolant you filled it with. It may be difficult to restore the coolant to the proper strength because of residual flush water. I ended up flushing with coolant one time to get the flush water close to exact strength. This is an expensive step that is avoided by using fresh coolant that is NOT premixed. You can run the bike and over time, add/subtract coolant/distilled water until you get the right strength. After you flush a few times, you can take a pretty good estimate at how much pure water you need to compensate for. The only Suzuki branded coolant I was able to find is premixed.

On this same note, looks like my first busa coolant flush went just fine after the bike was used for a while. see the final note on my coolant system flush tutorial. I guess just run it a while and check the coolant strength. If it ends up too lean, dump it and refill. Might be a bit anal but I would avoid mixing pre-dilluted with a different brand of undilluted.

From the thread linked above:
"I din't add any concentrated coolant to the system to enrich the freezing protection. The bike was run for a season and checked again at storage. Floated 5 balls. I guess maybe you need to run the coolant through the system for an extended period of time to get all the flush water and the coolant mixed thoroughly. Then you get an accurate reading with the tester. "
