Coolant Temp Irregular

Hey guys, Just picked up my new 09 Busa. I got 150kms on it so far, still breakin it in nicely.

When I'm riding my temps don't stay steady just below half, It drops down to a 1/4 then back up to below half. stays like that for a bit then drops down to a 1/4 again... slowly back up to just below a half.

If I stop the bike and let it ldle, the temps stay at just below a half and don't move. fan kicks in after a while.

is this normal?? My 01 busa never had the temps drop, just always stayed below a half.

My bike does the exact same thing, but only when I am riding in cool weather. Prob under 50 out. Other than that it functions normally. I was assuming that it just has a harder time regulating temps when it is cooler? Let me know too if it is something else!!!

wow, hmmm.. My 01 never did this, and I rode in pretty cool temps,
anyone else wanna chime in on this?

Have you checked the level of the coolant or what the rest of the cooling system looks like?

I am still stock everything. Coolant is good on mine. Never had a leak, that I could tell. Only does it when its cool out. It has done it on mine since I first purchased it. I asked the dealer about it and they just said it was the thermostat just fluctuating more with the lower temp. (cools off faster and such)

I have the same issue, and again only at 50 and below, anything above its close to the middle. nothing to worry.

That does sound right that the thermostat is the main issue behind the temperature varying so much on the bike.

Well this is how I justify not really worrying to much about it. It is fluctuating the right way(down)! I would rather be cool than hot!

To ask a simple question what prob could it poss create by running too cool ?
Always better than too hot right ?

Mine is same way and I have a little more than 5k on the bike .
I even changed the coolant to a performance type and it did not really change it .
Made it a bit more stable is all ?
But to go up and down well within range isn't anything I would or think you should worry about right ?

it's not an issue since the temp isn't going high. I would question if the thermostat is stuck open and isn't maintaining the min temps.

thanks guys for the great replies!

my mind is at ease! now to get this thing broken in!
