I ride the same way in town. When the rpms get to around 4k-4.5K I am looking to grab the next gear. It's nice getting 200+ miles between fills. That is totally unnecessary, 'busas aren't 600s.
Without a reason to keep the revs up, as you say, "just cruising", I'm looking for the next gear if I'm at 4000 rpm.

I agree...thats exactly what I do...the engine is sort of rough below 3000(not smooth?)but above 4 is very smooth...this is with a pipe, map, and PC3usb...oh, stock gearing....@ 5000 its right at about 95 and is very smoothMy usual 'cruising' speed is 95mph in 6th and the tach reads 5,000. Feels ok to me. There is no 'should' cruising speed as long as your revs don't fall too low. Don't want to lug it. If my revs fall below 3,000 I downshift.
Well, sheesh, obviously if you are already in top gear and you want to go 95 mph, then that is the rpm you are stuck with.My usual 'cruising' speed is 95mph in 6th and the tach reads 5,000. Feels ok to me. There is no 'should' cruising speed as long as your revs don't fall too low. Don't want to lug it. If my revs fall below 3,000 I downshift.
Nope - I enjoy a good, slow ride at times. There's no need to always stress the engine under the power it can make. Sometimes you have to love and caress the busa.hmm I think thats way to low, you might as well have a cruiser...redlines 11000 not 8000

Can the Busa handle the power? Of course, but there's no reason to make her old before her time. I abuse my bike enough at the track.
