Just starting to think about a stage one turbo setup and was wondering how much the install and tuning cost? Thanks

Depends if you go to a competent installer or not?

Could be $1k, could be $2k....or could be $8k++ by the time you repair a blown engine...

I live in baton Rouge, La and would be willing to bring it to the nearest place known for knowledge and quality of work.

There are 2 sponsors on this site with outstanding reputations with ALL things turbo & busa.

1 is located in TX and the other in NY so take your pick :beerchug:

We can get you set up with a kit as well as install and tune it, and were located in Houston.

For info on pricing shoot me a pm for pricing info.

You can do most the work yourself as far as installing it and then take it somewhere for a tune. In the end it is taking the exh off...mount turbo header (comes assembled). Change the fuel pump + some lines (vac + oil)...you could read the directions several times...take it apart one day and reassemble the next (on a fresh start)

lmao aint that the truth.... yea give either Powerhouse or Boosted cycles a call. both are knowledgeable and trustworthy. I'm partial to Powerhouse but I only live an hour away so.... I'm sure if I was in TX id be partial to Boosted Cycles.

im not sure who is in the LA that I wud trust. I'm sure there is someone but if it means u gotta trailer somthn a few hours away do it or ull be sorry.

I can't even count (I'm sure frank can't either) how many "cheap" turbo installs I've had to fix over the years. It cost a lot more for me to go back and redue someone else's screw ups.

Suck it up pay the $$$ once and have it done right by a professional like the above mentioned. Why pay thousands of $$$ and go through trial & error?? Pay a little more & have a lot more peace of mind knowing it was done right by a builder who stands by his work and reputation...... the only thing you'll have to do is add gas to your land rocket

No one in louisiana imo. Took to a local highly recommended tuner and my AR was around 9-11 and during boost was at high as 15.5 on 93 pump. From my understanding this is not right. I took the risk and starting tuning myself for lack of funds and it worked.

Imo I would recommend taking to a knowledgeable installer and tuner like others have recommended. Powerhouse and boosted cycle get rave reviews and to date haven't heard any negative feed back. Once I save the jack for a ultra kit bike bike will go to one of these guys.

Yeah this is not something I would do myself that's why I'm asking for install price. I would most defentaly bring it to a good shop and have it done once the right way. I will give you a shout (murderedout07) when I get a chance, houston is only about 5 or so hrs from here so that's not bad.

I would guess 150 for a tune...3-4 pulls to dial it in. 6-8 hrs shop time to remove + install parts...while you are doing major work it may be worth the extra cost to address the trans if it has issues, shift forks, shift shafts, hd output shaft + a stock or +1 front sprocket...if you can afford it a turbo makes it a bunch more fun...the add ons list is long...just do it from the get go.

tune gonna cost quite a bit more then that. especially if ur doin pump/C16.

Yeah maybe your friend was giving you a "friend" price.... don't know many places that will throw a bike on a dyno and tune for $150.

Having just had a turbo build completed I strongly suggest you wait until you can afford to do it right and do it once. I did and I am very happy with it. The bike now is built to accommodate more power when/if I decide to but is damn near bulletproof if I take care of it. Frank at Powerhouse did the build and talked me through all the option but didn't push anything on me. I took his advise and spent more money now versus having to drop the motor and do it later. Very glad I did. If you are going to go turbo do it right and do it once.

^^^ yeah that's rock bottom dirt cheap prices right there!

Most shops charge $150 just to install a power commander.....

You definitely get what you pay for in the turbo realm. If you've just spent 4k on a kit, why wouldn't you want to make sure it's installed and tuned correctly? For $150 I've seen junk "tunes" on bolt on na bikes.
