Cover scratches

I store my Busa outside and have been using the Suzuki cover on it. It's pretty windy here in Utah and the cover gets whipped around which resulted in abrasions to the paint. This was evident mostly on the rear fairing and cowl. Working on it with polish has managed to save it from serious damage, but it would have been a disaster if left unnoticed.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What have you done to prevent it? I'm planning on gluing some cotton fabric to the inside of the cover where it comes into contact with the fairing. I guess I'll have to be careful not to put it near the warm spots. I put a cotton towel over the rear of the bike and under the cover until I have a chance to do the cover mods.

I bought a cover from geza (stretch fit so no flapping/relative motion) but I had such a bad experience dealing with the company that I cannot recommend it.

Yup, know exactly what you're talking about. It's happened to all the bikes I own. Living in a windy area doesn't help matters either. The best quick solution I found was to get an old cotton blanket, cut holes in it for the mirrors and rear signals to slip through. That way it doesn't move around underneath the regular cover that you put over it.

A great longterm solution is to get a cotton cover from Beverly Hills motorsports. They will require dimensions and will custom fit it. A little pricey though but worth it (130ish). They have several levels of protection. The cotton gaurd doesn't protect against rain but the higher level one does. They also make a flannel one, very nice.
