Cracked Mirror

Is there a way to get the glass out of the stock mirror? I cracked mine and i was thinking of putting a rear view video screen in there but can't get the mirror out.

It should be like most other cheap bike/car mirrors. Popped in place and stuck with double sided tape or glue. Pry it out with a knife blade in the crack. Once you get a section out you should have some room to help get the rest out. Quick and easy way to get stitches too!

Put it in an oven at around 150-200 degrees.
It will soften the plastic enough so you can get it out.
Pretty sure on temps, not sure on time but I've read here others do the same.
Be patient others will confirm or deny my info.

yes, Captain and i have done a couple of them...you have to heat them in the oven (i think we did it at about 350 degrees) until the plastic gets warm and pliable but not long enough to warp it...we used plastic zip ties to work the glass out

slide the big end of the tie behind the glass in the middle and work toward a corner...we ended up breaking one mirror because we didn't heat the plastic up enough and used too much pressure trying to pop it out...good luck :beerchug:

It's that Cuban cooking, just leave it in there until it looks done!:poke::rofl:

Yes Cuban recipe calls for cooking until it's black and drinking enough to make it not matter

Semi that's what I was thinking about.

And I didn't know getting the mirror glass out intact mattered since it was already broken.
