Cracks in hub ?

Thanks ! I was getting a little worried, I did not want the hub to crack at 190mph!

I had the same thing. My dealer checked them out and determined to be casting flaws. I also personally checked a new bike on the floor, it had the same thing...........

Something sounds fishy when an aluminum part is said to be mangafluxed. I may be mistaken, but I believe the material to be magnafluxed must be able to be magnatized. Aluminum can not be magnatized.

Also, a casting flaw is not always acceptable. If there are cracks in the part resulting from a casting flaw, they are still cracks, and cracks are not good. These cracks may amount to a negligable hazard, if they are minor surface cracks.

I would assume a factory representative saying the product is safe should be acceptable.

If gixxer said he magnafluxed the hub, then he magnafluxed the hub.....why would he say he did it if he didnt.......ya gotta have faith dude..........hehe. I also looked at the profile of Tye and it says he is a mechanical engineer so i can see why he would question it...............

Yes Aluminum can be Magnafluxed but not in the same way that iron is.An Iron die is used along with a small electro magnet to see the cracks under a special light.

I am gettting ready to pick up my bike soon,
I looked at the rear hub by the chain and there were some cracks ! This bike just came out of the crate. Any one know if these are just from the cast or cracks ?
Please let me know. Thanks,

They are casting flaws in the aluminum.I had my dealer check them and I removed the rear hub and magafluxed it myself.I also checked 3 other Busas and they all have the same casting flaws.

My Hub is also flawed. I plan to take it off and polish it. MY $0.02 worth.

Yup. Having read this thread I checked and I've found cracks in the Hub. My bike's being serviced this Tuesday and I'll bring it to the dealers attention. Not that I'm expecting them to know anything about it. Thanks chaps for bringing this to my attention.
