Crash Bars

Just got new '04 purple busa, love it! Awesome bike and all...

Does anyone know where to get crash bars? These are the bars stunters use to help protect while abusing their bikes.

Thanks,

Chris

are you talking about frame sliders?

The pegs that stick out the side? Or a rear bar that keeps the back from rubbing when you're doing insanely 12 oclock wheelies?

You can buy frame sliders from www.parts411.com

The rear bars are usually custom made... never seen a place to buy them.

Kinda ugly but still a good idea. That definitely looks home made. If there was a good looking version of that for the Busa that didn't require cutting plastic I'd consider buying a set.

we built them for a 954 and then chromed em and the wrked pretty good but we never got the busa ones right and we said screw it but ive never seen a good set for busa that dont cut the plastic and the ones that dont cut it scratch it where it bolts up but if you going to keep them on forever who cares about scratches you cant see. a question i had was areodynamics. i know its gotta cause turbulamce at some point

Just have to ask, what would you be doing on the 'Busa that would require the use of crash bars?

OF all the bikes I have had or ridden, which is quite a few. The busa is ok for wheelies and some stoppies. It is too heavy for being a really good trick bike. Although its weight to power ratio is unreal. (meaning even as heavy as it is, it will still smoke almost anything) its not really a good bike for all around stunting. When you wreck all the weight hitting the ground will cause some damage and the plastic aint cheap. Get some frame sliders and go spend a few bucks on an older and lighter bike to beat on. Beatin on a busa is like using a ferrari for a demolition derby. why in the world. Use the speed and power in the bike for what they are. dont wreck a bike trying to show off with your buddies. Especially if your not a veteran.

just a little addendum to my last post. At just around 5 bills in weight, the Busa although as powerful as anything is like a 450 lb ice skating partner. you may be able to toss it around but when it hits, its going to dent something whether it be the ground or your femur, or your tibia, you get the message. buy an r1 which is much lighter and easier to toss around for tricks and the like. just be careful and If you do go the nut route, keep us in the loop with pictures or videos so we can see your progress or regression and keep tabs on the medical bills.

Upon further consideration, I am going just get an old beat up cbr or gsxr to thrash. I will probably only do modest wheelies and stoppies on the busa. But you are right about the weight. I was riding my friend's gsx1000r and it was real noticeable.

Im glad to see your open for suggestions. I have ridden alot of bikes and as you saw yourself the bike is too heavy to do alot of the crazy stuff. I have a friend i ride with who I would say is an expert +++ rider and we ride alot together. I can pull alot of tricks off but at my age I like to wheelie alot and even bringing the bike down on a wheelie with the heavy front end is taxing on the front end. Have fun be safe and my opinion of the busa is really that of a great great bike that isnt really for stunting but can eat just about any bike out there for lunch. Its one of the best bikes ever to come out from suzuki and its a one in a million as far as power to weight ratio . Its heavy but as powerful as you will ever need. have fun and be careful... john
