Custom Exhaust question

I have noticed many different types of exhausts on the web some long some extreemly short. So just for kicks while bored I removed the exhaust cans and ran just the mid pipe, and it sounds really good to me. With the short exhausts is there some sort of back pressure adding coupling or does the bike need the back pressure to run? I put a couple of miles on it without the cans and didn't notice any issues. If the bike will be fine I'm going to make my own exhaust, bring it back about 14 to 16 inches with a slight turn down at the end. I think it would sound really good, but I don't want to mess the bike up doing this.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a power commander and tune it I don't think you will harm the bike. As far as tone, that is another story, I guess if you think your bike sounds good with the midpipe and that works for you I think you will be OK, although you might realize why good aftermarket exhausts is so expensive.

stop being a cheap and buy yourself a nice exhaust mine just cost me 1300

No offense guys , but there are only so many exhausts out there and I kind of want a different bike than everyone else. I really like th r77, but I'm not sure they are worth $700.00. Besides I like the short exhausts too and I'm not paying $1100.00 for a 9 inch pipe.

go turbo then and get your little dump pipe... youll be good only 6 grand or so.

If you can get an R77 for 700.00 jump on it.
(full system that is)

If you like the way the bike sounds with just the mid pipe you will HATE the sound of the Yoshi R-77's. That is pretty much a safe bet.
