Is custom mapping really worth the money? Is it really that much better than the map you get off the power commander web site.

lol, I am thinking he was looking for a more detailed answer than that (maybe the "why").

But it could just be me. That's what I love about the internet, even fools like me have the power of the written word at their command.

Custom mapping IS better the REAL question is How much better. The maps you can download from the PC site are tailored to bikes with the listed mods. They likely aren't as aggressive as a custom map would be due to the fact that all stock bikes are not the same and all stock bikes aren't in the same location, ie elevation.

In order for you to reach your FULL potential you should have a custom map created for your specific bike under the conditions you are most likely to ride in. The Dynojet site offers maps that will work for general conditions, but all could benefit from tweaking for YOUR bike.

Make sense?

DJ used to give a free dyno run coupon with there power commanders and jet kits.. Not sure if they still do....
My freind had an R1 with a pc3usb, full exhaust, air filter, and what ever else he could bolt on. It dynoed at 146hp with dyno jets map -after the dyno tech tuned it, it was making 162 and idling a lot better...
My 01 busa with a tiforce system, modded airbox, KN filter, and pair system removed made 152 @9500, we added the PC3usb {which was bitch to find because 01 only} and dyno tuned it we made 174 @ 10000 and I dont remmeber the torque but it was around 105 {also idled better...} And I never tried it with a dyno jet map , we just dynoed it with everything but the pc3 and then while he mapped it...
But anyway I have to agree its worth the couple of bucks to get her dialed in for your altitude, mods, and bike {there all different}...
You will be happier knowing shes rite....
Or get awideband and do it yourself........
