Custom throttle cables

Does anyone have any connections with any companies that make custom motorcycle throttle cables? Every vendor I speak to goes to the same source.

Yes, I know. Motion Pro, Inc. is the "go to" company. Their lead times are killing me though.

I can get custom brake lines with custom fittings in a 2 day turn around. I feel like I've asked for something that's never been done before. Why else would it take more than 2 weeks? Hell add another week and you can get a trans completely redone or a swing arm. I hate waiting for things. :moderator:

I know you mention Motion-pro and it seems this place carries them.
But from drop down menus and what they say they may have a custom one your looking for ? Have a lot of 2,4,6 inch drops and all kind of things listed ?

I have completely different TB's and throttle housing so I can't use the OE cable. I need a cable longer than stock with specific angled fittings and threading, housing length, and free cable length. The only part that is the same as OE is that the ends use Barrel wire end fittings.

At least now I don't feel like my thread went off into the abyss

Check with convertibars and see who their supplier is, good chance its Motion Pro but you may get lucky.

They order their cable from Motion pro and/or Barnett. It was worth a try though, thanks.

motion pro is their only supplier. It was worth a try.

the pricing isn't bad but the lead time of two weeks for a cable drives me nuts. I kno, I'm from the east coast so I do prefer everything to be done yesterday. I know there are other priorities when you're on the West coast. I hate this saying but it applies: "it is what it is".

Still hard to believe there is not one guy sitting at his small biz wishing Commuta would call for a custom cable he could whip out in 30mins ?

Are they that hard to make in say a small biz set up ?
I dont understand.

There are industrial companies out there but obviously they're not going to touch a one-off cable. I also thought there might be "some guy" sitting in his basement waiting who is capable of making an assembly. It would only take an hour if not less. It's the inventory for the fittings that's tough to cover. Hmmm 5 of these fittings, 5 of these other ones, metric, SAE, straight, 45 degree bends , 90 degree bends, inline adjusters, x chrome, x black, etc. then the wire ends, barrel, ball, pear, etc. The housing and cable could be purchased in bulk length so that wouldn't be to bad. So how many people are looking for custom cables? Just to recover your costs could take a year or more of orders.

Then again if motion pro has such high demand that it takes +2 weeks to make them then maybe there is a market need.
