Hey all;
I'm kinda new here so I hope this is the proper place to pose this question. There seems to be a lot of extremely knowledgeable folks on this board so hopefully someone can help. I am a CNC machinst/programmer with lots of CAD/CAM software at my disposal and I got this idea in my head to build my own custom wheels for my Busa. My problem is I am only a machinist not an engineer and when it comes to the engineering I am uneducated. I want to build a polished aluminum wheel but I dont know what kind of material is used in wheels(especially on a 200MPH bike) If it is just 6061-t6 billet what kind of treatment is required to make it stand up to real world condition. Will just anodizing work?? Also dimensions. Where can a guy find engineering dimensions or standards for motorcycle wheels? I would really appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Links, specs or advice from an engineer would be awesome. Sorry for the long winded post.
