Cutting the Hump

No I don't have pics, use eyeball engineering and cut so you can stuff what you want in there. Do you think that 16 square inches of plastic made from recycled cheap gin bottles contributes to the rigidity of the chassis?

Tinhead not that you were putting him down or anything but please notice that Jimjib probably knows as much about making engineering drawings come to life as anyone on the board.

To understand more about where the old dog members of org are coming from just consult the November 25th thread by Maui entitled "Engineers, doctors..."

And while you're at it, why don't you and the other new members put down a post on that thread so we can all understand each other better?

If you do, I might even find an important role for you in the government of HayabusaLand whereby you could parlay your poor morals into a motherlode of open highways with no speed limits.

jimjib, check out the two scans on the Busa section of my PhotoPoint account:

Although not an engineer myself tinhead, (my brother handles that for my company) I have developed enough products over the years to have a reasonably good understanding and appreciation of the art. One thing I have learned, is that a good engineer will listen to others, especially if those
other's have gotten out of the virtual part stage and have actually made some chips fly. I have seen the simplest of parts become a can of worms in an instant. DP and Coco, thanks.

jimjib:
I regret the tone of the reply. Please chalk it up to a frozen New Englander, winters 3 days old and too long already. I cut mine out by drilling a hole in the middle, sawed out the hole roughly missing all stuff that's not the thin plastic plate (recycled cheap gin bottles) then smoothed edges with a rough burr tool in an airgun. Works so well I don't know why Suzuki doesn't do it stock. Haven't noticed any structural problems yet ie warping or distorting of tailpiece.
Merry Christmas!!
