Just thought I would drop a note on an interesting read...

They are both the same weight, height, and wheel base
(+/-1.8%) but the biggest Zed has an extra 10.2 bhp (claimed).

Its said that this translates into 0.2 sec diff in their quarter mile test. So we will all just have to be a little quicker at the light till some real competition comes along ;)

I have to give them some credit, they do wonder if the Bodywork on the zed is 1980's, and mention the "legendary" status of the Busa.

After some discussion of the electronic limiting on the Zed there’s a pretty funny note that reads: "..you may want to avoid third-gear roll-on contests with a 'Busa for pinks."
 
I'm sure you won't get many replies to this thread because a lot of people have already read the Cycle World comparison and the 14 outguns the Busa in just about every category. I'm not criticizing the Busa. It's a darn good bike. It's just that I've read threads like this on here before and if it's more positive for the 14 than the Busa, these threads die out real quick here.
By the way, if the secondary throttle body butterflies are removed from the 14, you're not going to want to do a roll on with a 14 in any gear.
Remember, I'm not bashing. The 14 has raised the anti up, not by much, but up.
 
In many cases, it's not the bike but the rider. In a numbers game the ZX14 has raised the standard, but we need not forget that the ZX14 has a bigger engine than the Busa. I think that if the Busa had the same size engine all the numbers would be much closer if not the same. I know it's not much bigger but neither are the number differences. The Busa is time tested and proven.

we used to rule the street...for so long...they try to come up with something...let em come along...to see what they can do...we are mostly moded, as they are in still stocks, and they are scared...we are not(we know our rides...) they don't...

we can't deny that Kawi raised the bar though.  Which is good for everyone. However, it is up to the rider.  There is about as much difference between these two bikes as there is between the bikes in the liter class.  When someone says which liter bike to get everyone says pick the one you like they are all the same.  Well, the Busa and the 14 are in a similar perdicament.  Pick the one you like better.

ok..the 14 is better ...there i said it...in some areas...and the busa is better....in some areas...come on yall...figure it out....only the pro's can truely squeeze out the diffrences...so pick what ya like....they both can get ya pulled over..lol
 
Some simple modifications will still keep the Busa on top like a displacement increase, some suspension work and lighter wheels.:cool:
 
Funny how they backed the top speed of the busa back in the mag. I have a 2000 Busa and the speed back then on the 1/4 was 9.89 at 145mph, top speed 194mph. Lets put the Kawi up to a 1999 or 2000 busa then! I think a new busa should still smack into the 185 limit with no problem! I do not believe the busa got slower in the 1/4 but to make the Kawi look better it makes you wonder if the tester held back or was off a little.

Its ok the Kawi is a touch faster in the 1/4 but it took the try of the ZX12 and then the ZX14 with 10 extra hp to grab only two tenths of a sec... All you ZX lovers are going to cry when the new Busa hits the street because Suzuki will bump the bar big time. It will take another 7 or 8 years to catch up again.... I can smell the crow cooking now!! ZX lovers enjoy your hard fought for two tenths..

The ZX-14 is King. The Busa's been reduced to Queen.
That is probably why you see so many 14's at the drag strip. Oh yeah you don't. That is probably why Kaw is selling out on 14's, oh yeah they aren't. That's why you see so many out on the street, oh yeah you don't. Yeah it is king isn't it!!!!!! Wow, whole couple miles an hour faster which is only according to who you talk too and the quarter is not proven. I am not sold on the king being dethrowned?
 
Suzuki has sold more Busas than the previous sales year for the past 7 years (1999-2005). Let's see if the Zx-14 can do the same.

I'd love to see the unit sales numbers of Busas for each year compared to the ZX-14. Anyone have them? Bet it's not even close. Of course we will only have the first year to compare to come.
