Temps in the upper 60's this afternoon, but the sun is mostly hidden behind the clouds (more on this in a moment). Nice riding day, took the the girlie-girl out for her first Hayabusa ride. It was only about an hour long, but was pretty fun. After I dropped her back off at her place, the real fun began.
Having shed 115 pounds of young nubile, the busa felt positively lithe. Because of the coolish pavement temps and my on-its-last-leg rear rubber, I found that the bike would not hook up very well in 1st gear. I detected some wheel slip when gassing it hard.
Experimenting further, I slipped away from a backcountry four-way and, at about four grand, leaned forward a bit and snapped the throttle to the stop.
GRRRRHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Airbox positively screaming, rear wheel a haze, tach swinging wildly toward redline, back end fishtailing slightly but feet up on the pegs, yours truly with a wide, toothy grin beneath the dark smoked shield of my Arai.
Can I be arrested for this?
I went back to look and, sure enough, I found that I laid my first darkie since my V-Max days back in the early 90s (and that was on bias ply tires, not the good radial rubber of today!).
So . . . I did it again!
Whoot!
I think I need a set of cans pretty soon though, really give her that Pro Stocker in the bleach box wail when I'm lighting up the rear tire.
This bike is so damned much fun.
Happy Sunday, all!
