we finally got our sons first 36hr pass family weekend for his basic training. we will be in Ky on the sept 4,5,6 i wont be driveing the busa down of course but anyone in the area want to meet let me know.
ok all we are getting ready to head down...we will be staying at the comfort inn in elizabethtown. arriving early on the 4th . wife wants to know what we should go do or see while he is there on his pass.
good idea.. we keeping it open as he has suggested he has a couple things in mind. saw 6 flags too...might not have time to do a all dayer... too expensive not too
well we made it here...ft knox is not as "intresting" as i thought it would be. wanted to go to pattons museum but all he wanted to do was get off the base and relax. so mabey ill get to get some pics of all the armor tomorrow. we saw a gen 2 black and gold rideing today just out of elizabethtown. didnt get a chance to see if it was a or member but he was military (refective jacket and boots)
just dont want to be a pic ho...so yes ill get right on that...and who owns the blue/gold gen11 saw at the px on sunday with no cans...just out from the mids. didnt get to see who it was to ask and wasnt going to "stalk"
apparantly due to not useing flash inside (conserving batterys) alot of the inside of the museum was blurry. ill give a few. outside pics much better. we went to ft duffield (that a haul up dat der hill) gorgeous views though. he also proposed to his girlfreind (she rode with us down) and she accepted. so ill be a daddy in law soon.
ok and this is our son with a friend of his we entertained all weekend. david is in the class b's and his freind in the BDU's we are proud of him..they asked him to be squad leader but he refused as most of the DI's are returning iraqi vets some with multiple purple hearts and they give no quarter to these men, and he is squad'ed up with some of the most undisciplined young men he has ever met. (kept in red phase for extra weeks due to sneaking of candy and soda and general article 15's handed out couple arrested for thier insubordination. he was not happy to go back as he heard multiple storys of grads caught out of uniform over weekend. we will get more on his next letter. we are proud of him and what he has become. yes... he fully admits our parenting as why he is respected by both is platoon mates and DI's.. but he gets to "smoke himself" alot for being "pvt Johnson" lol
