Interesting...they are the closest BMW dealership to where I lived.
Gave them a call asking about the new S1000 RR and about a possible
demo ride...

Well...(in a very stuffy voice)...WE...don't dooo demo rides ???

Hmm...I thought all the BMW dealers were supposed to demo the new 1000.

Ah well, saved me a trip I guess.

The attitude kinda put me wanting one down a couple notches.

Honestly, I can't blame them for not wanting to demo that bike. Most of their bikes are pretty relaxed and safe for demo rides, and attract a more mature customer. Every squid in town is going to want to demo the s1000rr lol

My buddy at work said he took one for a spin at the local BMW dealership, he had pretty good things to say about it! One of the members of the local board just bought one last week, I saw him on it today while I was out on a ride!

That is kinda odd that they wouldn't let you demo a bike. All of the dealers here in Arizona will let you take one out.

Don't know why everyone raves about this bike.???

I sat on one in CA Saturday, it's not a competitor to the Busa, rather the GSXR, it's a track/race bike. Nice, feels like a 600 when sitting on it, but look at the race results in Phillip Island Australia this week-end. Ducati and Suzuki took around 12 seconds out of the closest Beemer, must tell us something.

The 1000 RR started racing January 09, that is one year under the belt. How many years you think they need to get a good rider and score a first win?

BMWs

I had a BMW and I found two problems, one personal and one professional. First, BMW doesn't make any of The Good Bikes in a way that lends them to being lowered. It is no fun leaning six inches to the left or right (whichever is up-hill) at every stop. Second, I don't want my Service Advisor to meet me in the Service Reception Area wearing a white smock, instead of greasy jeans.

You figure they would be letting qualified people ride them if they want. When I was selling bikes if a customer wanted to ride I did everything I could do to make sure that happened for them. That being said all the neighborhood kids didn't ride a thing. Its one thing to possibly be in the market and trying something out, its another to go on a day of test riding without a penny in your pocket.

I looked at it this way, I either sold a bike to someone, or I sold it to a insurance company if the test ride went wrong. I didn't wish harm on anyone, that's why I made sure the the "rider" knew what he or she was doing and wasn't there for a joy ride.

Oh I don't know, let's see when did Suzuki and the Ducati start racing? ???
