Left the key in the bike in the off position but I think that drained the battery...it was like that for a few days. It tried to start but slowly dies.

Can I jump it from my car with jumper cables...could that hurt the battery or worse the bike (ECU, etc.)?

No problem with a jump start but I wouldn't have the car motor running, as you won't need the extra juice. As soon as it starts unhook the cables and go for a long ride. Maybe get a tender for later on?

I usually go out and just start it up, let it run for a short while then go up and down the block a few times if I haven't had the time to ride. I believe leaving the key in, even in the OFF position, will slowly drain it down.

It shouldn't. All that is running is the clock right? By riding it a long way the battery has a chance to recharge. Under 3,000 revs it isn't charging worth a damn so short rides alone can discharge it more than you think. That's another good reason for a Deltran battery tender. I got their Jr. model, cheapest and works just the same. Under $30 most everywhere.

Get a Batttey Tender Plus and hook it up after riding.I leave mine hooked up all the time in the garage because it won't draw current if it isn't needed. It also keeps the battery form being sulfated and it might last longer too.
